Send and receive
I found this posted on the web and thought it worth reproducing:
The distance we feel is as long as it ever was.
Now we don't write. It's too hard, you see.
No time to talk, the world so so instant now.
Wait for delivery; send and receive.
I wrote to you yesterday. A short mail, it was.
Two minutes later: send and receive.
Nothing came through.
Send and receive.
The postman will call at the push of a button Empty handed all the
same, all the time.
I used to wait by day by day.
Ten minutes have gone, and still no reply.
Maybe I was wrong all the way?
Now I stop counting, the minutes crawl by.
Send and receive:
two times per minute
one hundred times per hour
one thousand times a day
Send and receive.
Maybe in ten minutes you'll write once more.
Send and receive, send and receive.
Ten minutes pass, but ten minutes more...
Send and receive.
